What is Acne?

Acne is a common chronic condition that affects the hair follicles and sebaceous glands, characterised by the expansion and blockage of follicles along with inflammation. 

Who does Acne effect?

Acne can affect individuals of all genders, races, and ethnicities. It is particularly prevalent among adolescents and young adults, with approximately 85% of 16 to 18-year-olds experiencing some form of the condition. However, acne can also occur in younger children and adults of all ages.

Acne Treatments

    A course of 6 dermalux facials spaced at weekly intervals the NIR LED can be useful in reducing inflammation, whilst the Blue light kills the bacteria on the surface of your skin, as your skin improves we will use the Red light to repair skin cells, and improve any post inflammatory pigmentation and scarring.

What Causes Acne?

Acne is multifaceted - contributing factors include:

  • Hormonal influences from both endogenous and exogenous androgenic hormones

  • Distension and obstruction of hair follicles
